Palm Sunday

Written for Palm Sunday 1986

Verse 1:
many years ago today a man walked on this earth
a ruler of his own way as we all are at birth
he always let us know of our holiness
though he lived long ago his teachings we still bless

Refrain:
palms are swaying this day saying victory of the soul
a child returning for our learning the world is one and whole
palms are swaying this day saying victory of the soul
by his teaching ever reaching the world is one and whole

Verse 2:
many years ago today it is said he entered Jerusalem
where palm fronds paved his way as people paid tribute with them
it was the beginning of the end the ending just before a new start
to me he is like a friend born anew in each baby's heart
